Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day is January 15. It is a day to remember the people who have passed on from the physical to the spiritual. It is a time when we share stories about their lives. It is done in the evening. Family and friends bring pictures and mementos and remember the people who have had a positive impact in their lives.

Earth Festival

Water Festival

The water festival takes place the second weekend in July. The water festival celebrates life because water is life. It is the biggest festival. It celebrates womanhood.

Thanksgiving is a day of giving thanks for the things we have and the people we share our lives with. We must give thanks to our mothers for bringing us into the world and our fathers for helping them do that. We must give thanks for the children we have and give thanks to them for choosing us as parents. We must give thanks to the earth for holding us up in the universe, to the water that gives us life, to the air that keeps us alive and to the fire that energizes our spirit. We must also give thanks to the animals for helping us through the cycle of life.

Founder’s Day

Founder’s Day is September 21st. It is the most important Sommerian holiday because it celebrates the birth of our founder, Sommer and the creation of the Sommerians.

The Fire Festival

The fire festival takes place the second weekend in October. The fire festival is a storytelling festival.

Week Of Silence

The Week Of Silence is from January 1-7. This week is a week of oral fasting. It is a time to be quiet, and tune in to what’s going on inside of you. It is a time to think about the coming year and what you hope will happen. It is a time to project positive energy into the coming year, in hopes that it will be a happy, healthy and peaceful one.

The Week Of Silence is also a time to forgive and forget. Work on letting go of past hurts, make a peace offering to those you may have offended or hurt. Try to start the new year on a positive note. Let go of the past and embrace the future.

The Week Of Silence can be a week of total silence for those who live alone and want to practice it, but for those who have to work and have small children it is impossible to be quiet and silent all the time. During this week, you must speak as quietly as possible, remain even tempered and serene. When you speak, speak quietly and say only positive things.

The Week Of Silence is observed by those 12 and over. Children are never expected to be silent but they can be taught to think before they speak and to only say positive things about others and to others.

Celebrate New Years Eve with a party but the following morning the Week Of Silence begins.

Your Birthday

Celebrate your birthday. Take the day off. Treat yourself. Throw a party and get gifts from family and friends.
